Episode 646: Kvlted!! - interview with Culted
Friday Mar 12, 2021
Friday Mar 12, 2021
This global crisis has radically altered a lot of things and the way we go about doing them. For musicians, it's the lack of live performing and the challenges of trying to jam/write new material. For Season Of Mist recording artists Culted... well, not much has changed. With 3/4 of the line up hailing from Winnipeg, Canada, and the other 1/4 residing in Sweden, the entire band has never been face to face. With the new album "Nous" on the racks, it's a good time to get multi-instrumentalist Micheal Klassen back on the show. We discussed the band's new record, their unique situation, and made vocalist Daniel Jannson an honorary Winnipegger! This chat sparked our own discussion in our "News, Views, and Tunes", going over what constitutes a "local band" and when/if the designation changes with international success. Musically, we crank the new Culted + cool stuff from Terror, Tombs, Venomous Concept, Sleepless, Meth Leppard, Direct Action, Demoniac and introduce Vancouver bashers Anarcheon in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy!!

Episode 645: Heatseeker - interview with Endseeker
Thursday Mar 04, 2021
Thursday Mar 04, 2021
First up, "Mount Carcass" is one helluva title! So it should only be fitting that it be the monicker of an awesome album. And.. written and recorded by an awesome band! That's what we have with death metallers Endseeker's new Metal Blade release (Apr. 16th). The band hails from Germany but have that Swedish HM2 sound. With all of our recent talk about that particular pedal, it was enough to want to get axeman Ben Liepelt on the horn. We also discussed the new promo vid for the first single (zombie cheerleaders!!) and his thoughts on Germany's legendary artists. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", the first issue of our Decibel subscription arrived and we pounded back the bevvies (cyberlly, if that's a word) with death legends Cianide! Musically, we crank the new Endseeker, the aforementioned Cianide, Coronary, Skeleton, Lizzy Borden, Lik, Eviction, Cave Bastard and we introduce Montreal folk metallers Valfreya in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

Episode 644: Musical Bliss - interview with Terminal Bliss
Thursday Feb 25, 2021
Thursday Feb 25, 2021
"Never stop learning" isn't just an old adage. It's solid advice. When the Relapse debut from Richmond bashers Terminal Bliss came across our desk, it had us scratching our heads. "Brute Err/ata" is a unique monicker. And after cranking the record we knew we had to get the band on the horn and enlighten us. Prepping for our chat, we soon discovered we were going to enjoy a lot about the band, as opposed to a quick vocabulary chat. Axeman Mike Taylor gave us all the ins and outs about this killer record, as well as discussing the vastly underrated Richmond scene. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we dispel some myths as the local punk scene opens their doors to those less fortunate during this winter cold snap. Musically, we crank said Terminal record and cool stuff from Razor, Gravesend, Iron Reagan, Bleach Everything, Socioclast, Graveripper, Ominous Ruin, and introduce Malice Divine in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

Long time listeners will be all too familiar with our love of Decibel magazine. We've been avid readers for years and even have some on going in jokes on this very show about this amazing tome. When we came into contact with Decibel scribe Sean Frasier, we knew we had to sit down with him and hear all about our fave rag. On top of that, Mr. Frasier is also the mainman behind the fledgling label, Wise Blood Records. A cool new indie already gracing our ears with awesome acts and tunes. We dive deep into his work at Decibel; first and fave interview, working with the veteran staffers and everything that goes into running an indie. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we discuss the dude who made a guitar from his uncle (!??!) and go over the recently announced Hall Of Fame nominees. Musically, we crank WB recording artists Vexing Hex and Mother Of Graves + Armoured Angel, Skeletal Remains, Ides of Gemini, Deiquisitor, Mortify, Ritual Warfare and introduce San Diego's Conjureth in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy!!

Episode 642: Magic Band - interview with Wizard
Thursday Feb 11, 2021
Thursday Feb 11, 2021
This week's episode of Radioactive Metal is gonna put a spell on you! German metallers Wizard are one of the unsung heroes of Metal! They've been waving the genre flag since '91 and are about to drop their 12th (!!) full lengther "Metal In My Head" via Massacre Records. The record is full of anthems that will get the fists pumping and the Horns waving! So when the record blew us away here at the RAM offices, we knew we had to dive right in. We got vox Sven D'Anna on the line to get the 411 on everything in the Wizard World. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we go deep into the year 1980 as we just celebrated the 40th anniversary of this momentous year. We go over all the top album releases, band formations, and news stories in the Metal and Punk scenes. Musically, we crank the new Wizard + some Discharge, Necrot, Oz, White Wizzard, Hellraizerr, Warlord, Witchfynde, Forgotten Rebels, Wombbath, and introduce Hexorcist in our "Indie Spotlight!" We're convinced there's more than one Matt Harvey. Somewhere about 10 years ago while on tour driving on a Texas backroad, Mr. Harvey was abducted by aliens. He was cloned then unleashed upon an unsuspecting Metal world. All of this is judging by the amount of creative output the man has given us. Most noted for his death metal band Exhumed, Mr. Harvey is involved in a number of amazing outfits. The most recent is the new record "Breaking The World" from trad metallers Pounder. Being old buds with the show, we had a great chat about the new album, the back story with Carcass' Tom Draper and his unofficial connection to pro wrasslin'. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we crank the new Pounder plus some rereleased classic Sacred Reich, Harlott, Holocausto, Savage Master, Tyrant, Wooded Stake, Terminal Bliss and introduced Canadian rockers Feed After Midnight in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy!!

Episode 640: Beautiful But Deadly - interview with Crystal Viper
Thursday Jan 28, 2021
Thursday Jan 28, 2021
Believe it or not, Polish trad metallers Crystal Viper have just dropped their 8th (!!) full lengther. Their Listenable debut "The Cult" just hit the shelves giving the perfect opportunity for vox/axeperson Marta Gabriel to make her RAM debut. We go over the ins and outs of the new album plus we discuss working with Jack Starr's Burning Starr and the band's predilection for cover songs. You gotta hear the new King Diamond cover!! Also we go over the charges against Jon Schaffer and the ramification on Iced Earth, pay tribute to the "So Far, So Good...So What!" album, and pay off a wage to thrash veterans Sacrifice. Musically, we crank the new CV and cool stuff from Coffins, Gatecreeper, Xentrix, Loudblast, the legendary Repulsion, Wolves Attack! and introduce Cali "geek metal" bashers Repaid in Blood in our "Indie Spotlight". Episode 638: We're All Fvcked! - interview with Fvcked And Bound
Friday Jan 15, 2021
Friday Jan 15, 2021
As 2020 started to wind down, the prevailing sentiment seemed to be that with the new year all the negativity will disappear and all will be hunky-dory. But as this week unfolded, 2021 seems to be picking right up where we left off. Enter our "Creature Feature". The concept behind Seattle bashers Fvcked And Bound is very apropos. We're all fvcked! And bound! And we've enlisted axeman Brian McCelland to tell us as to why. Especially with their newly re-released album "Suffrage". In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we dive into the jon schaffer/Capital building fiasco and crank tunes from FandB, Accuser, Fvck The Facts, The Accused AD, Uniform Choice, Evangelist, Road Warrior, and He Whose Ox is Gorged. Finally, we introduce Within Nostalgia in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy.

In general, 2020 may have been a crap year. Here at the RAM offices the year will be a memorable one for the number of awesome artists that gave us a moment of their time. We're going to keep the Crazy Train on the right track this year starting with this week's legendary "Creature Feature". The influence of the mighty Diamond Head is undeniable. Being one of the NWOBHM originals, DH are no doubt your fave band's fave band. In '20, the band payed homage to their illustrious past while simultaneously ushering the band into the future. "Lightning To The Nations 2020" is a re-recording of their legendary debut and it's one of the few that actually works. Mainman Mr. Brian Tatler himself was eager to share his thoughts. After we got reacquainted, we discussed all the whys and wherefores of the new album. As well as the NWOBHM in general. Past and present. Diamonds Are Forever! In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we discuss Loudwire's 88 Anticipated Albums of '21, Decibel's annual Top 40 and vinyl overtaking CDs for the first time in the SoundScan era. Musically, we crank said Head record plus cool stuff from Sacrifice, Raven, Angel Witch, Blitzkrieg, Municipal Waste, Dropdead, Of Feather And Bone, Heretical Sect and we introduce Swedish trad metallers Century in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy all 2021!
