Episode 688: Crushing It
Thursday Feb 17, 2022
Thursday Feb 17, 2022
Traditionally we dedicate this episode to our annual Valentine's Day Massacre. But being minus any female co-hostesses this year, we just weren't feeling it this year. We still want to do something to celebrate this special day though. It's safe to say that everyone in their youth goes through that whole "crush" phase. Those special artists that we had those special feelings for that go beyond just enjoying the tunes. So in the spirit of VDay, we figured we'd share some our crushes from our early daze (not surprising we name two Runaways). As well, we share some stories from when we were face-to-face with some of these objects of our youthful affections. In our "News, Views and Tunes", we crank some new and used from Allegaeon, Abysmal Dawn, Body Void, Heir Apparent, Kat and Life Sentence. Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

Episode 687: Johnnies On The Spot
Thursday Feb 10, 2022
Thursday Feb 10, 2022
The Metal World recently lost two important figures named Johnny. Mr. Johnny "Z" Zuzula was the founder/owner of the mighty Megaforce Records. The upstart label released a number of excellent albums that helped shape us as fans of our beloved genre. We also lost actor Howard Hessemen. For our more mature listeners, Hessemen will be best known as "Doctor" Johnny Fever on the awesome "WKRP In Cincinnati" sitcom aired from '78-'82. The Doctor was a major influence on the creation of Radioactive Metal. So this week we thought it would be best to pay tribute to these Johnnies. First with discussing some of our fave Megaforce albums/songs. As well, we reminisce some of our fave episodes/moments on the mighty "...K.R.P." In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we discuss Meatloaf (RIP) and menstrual cycles(!), the whole Rogan/Young spotify thing, and the new/classic Slaughter album! Musically we crank new and used from Exciter, MOD ClassicTK, Pupil Slicer, Abhoria, Solicitor, the aforementioned Slaughter, and introduce Swearwolf in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

3...2...1...Happy New Years!! Unfortunately with all that's going on it the world, there's not much going on in terms of NYE celebrations. But we didn't want to left out in the cold, literally and figuratively. So we decided we'd make recording this special episode our own New Years bash. We invited our buddy Jack to join us in cracking a stack o' wax and just kick back and shoot the shite' about nothing in particular. We yapped about the "Golden Age" of Metal, 80s Judas Priest, "Weird " Al/Ramones, American politics and some Star Wars and MCU. Musically, we crank some new and used from Massacre, Pestilence, Deceased, Warzone, General Surgery, Black Death, Impaler, Vanik, VHS and Impulse Manslaughter! Episode 683: 19...19...1981!
Thursday Dec 23, 2021
Thursday Dec 23, 2021
Ho! Ho! Holy Shit! It's that time again. But before we wrap up this year and unwrap some of Satan's...uhm...Santa's gifts, we're gonna start your hooligan holidaze with another banging episode. This particular discussion topic we have to squeeze into this year. 2021 marks the 40th (!) anniversary of 1981. Those 365 days provided the Metal World with some key album releases, band formations and news stories. We go over all the whys and wherefores that helped shape our beloved genre as we know and love it. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we have some cool gear and comic talk and discuss Dolly Patron's boobs (!!). Musically, we crank some new and used from Cirith Ungol, Hellwitch, Tower, Sortilege, Casket Robbery, JFA, and Mausoleum! So, Merry Christmas and all that rot. Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

Episode 682: In The Beginning...
Friday Dec 10, 2021
Friday Dec 10, 2021
At our ripe old age, your RAM hosts have been on this planet for as long as Heavy Metal itself. So, with the exception of the formation of the genre itself, we've pretty much seen the birth of all the significant sub genres. We remember well those first important, ground breaking records. So this week we decided to share the whys and wherefores of our beginnings with a.o. Black, Thrash, Crossover and NWOBHM. Of course with so much history behind these relatively short 50 years, we barely scratched the surface. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we crank some new and used from Eternity's End, Black Spell, Mortal Vision, Stormkeep, Avenger, The Accused and introduce Philly's Morgul Blade in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

Episode 681: Guilty Pleasures??
Thursday Dec 02, 2021
Thursday Dec 02, 2021
Even the most Kvlt of Metalheads have at least one "guilty pleasure". That certain song or artist that they may choose to keep to themselves. Either from fear of embarrassment or reprisal from their homies. But that's just a reflection of the open mindedness Metalheads possess. Metal may be the Trve love, but we find that many different genres make up our music collections. Here at the RAM offices, a variety of musical menageries fill the air. Some may be surprising, some not so much. So this week we sat down and spilled our guts and shared some tunes that may just fall under the "Believe It or Not" banner. Confession is good for the Rock n Soul. In our "News, Views and Tunes", we thumb thru the new Decibel and discuss the (in)famous "WKRP in Cincinnati" 'Turkey Drop' episode. Musically, we crank new and used from Genocide Pact, Flotsam and Jetsam, Strife, Gravesend, Castle, Karloff, Churchburn, and Bastardur. Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

Episode 680: Ask And You Shall...
Friday Nov 26, 2021
Friday Nov 26, 2021
If there is one thing we love the most about doing your fave radio show, it's got to be asking our fave artists questions. Interviews are the life's blood of this show. We love picking the brains of our esteemed guests and entertaining our listeners. The announcement of the Bruce Dickinson spoken word tour having a fan interaction Q&A segment got our creative juices flowing. One day we'd like to get Mr. Dickinson in our "Creature Feature" hotseat. Until then we'll make due with perhaps presenting a question to Big Bruce in the live environment. But what to ask? There's also myriad of other artists we'd like to pose a question to as well. So this time around we sat down and hammered out these hypothetical questions we'd present to a variety of artists. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we have a special "Extended Indie Spotlight". Mr. Matt Copper is a Winnipeg producer of local Metal artists working out of his "Atomic 29 Productions" studio. While we've featured untold bands before, we figured we'd get the 411 on the production of these awesome indie releases. Musically, we crank new and used from Enforced, Fortress, Blood Sport, Weregoat (!) and Righteous Fist. Horns Up and Stay Healthy!

Episode 679: There Goes Tokyo!
Friday Nov 19, 2021
Friday Nov 19, 2021
Oh, how the mighty has...risen! When we first discovered French metallers Gojira, they were pretty much just another underground outfit with loads of potential. Now over the years, thru hard rock and one killer release after another, these behemoths are one of Metal's darlings. The new album "Fortitude", debuted in top spots all through out Billboards relevant categories. And now the band is currently killing it on the road. Having just caught a headline set, we're ready to talk all things "Big G". And this time we don't mean Godzilla. Well, sorta. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we have a couple belts of "Blackened Whiskey" and crank some new shite' from Lavaborne, Bootlicker, Mortiferum, Lamp of Murmurr and introduce South Carolina punkers Shem Creeps in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up and Stay Healthy!
