Radioactive Metal

Canadian crusty grinders FLASH OUT may not be on the tip of the brain of the majority of extreme Metallers. That tide should turn soon enough as they're pounding the pavement more than ever to get the underground's attention. To Live A Lie Records picked up their latest EP then took their act on the road. Upon their return home, we caught up with boys at their jam space as they spilt their guts. We discussed the aforementioned Death Dealer EP and all the debauchery at the recent Maryland Death Fest. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we share war stories on the live front and crank some wicked tunes from Flash Out, the new ABORTED, DESPISE YOU and KING DIAMOND! Horns!! Seeing as we're hardly professional musicians, we can't even begin to imagine all that goes on in prepping a month long national trek. The night before hitting the road must be frantic to say the least. So we're especially grateful for this week's Creature Feature. Mere hours before their nationwide terrorization (thank you, Hank Rollins), bassist/vocalist Luca Indrio of Bay Area deathsters NECROT took some time to share his thoughts on the most exciting time of his career. We spoke of the new Tank Crimes top priority album "Blood Offerings", the Bay Area today, and an update on his other project VASTUM! In our News, Views, and Tunes, we discuss our adventures at Universal Studios and bash the Jenner sisters clothing line. Musically, we crank said Necrot record, the new GOATWHORE, BROKEN HOPE, UNDERGANG, GOD DETHRONED and some classic MORTUARY! Horns Up!! Recently, Canadian thrash legends ANNIHILATOR made metal history with their first tour of their native soil in roughly 25 years. As stoked as we were to hear some old faves live, Montreal metallers MUTANK must be stoked many times over being able to share the stage with them. We're embarrassed to say that Mutank only got on our radar upon this tour announcement. Horns down to us for that as they have a fantastic tale to tell. A tale that vox/bassist Stephan Reynolds and axeman Costa Skoulikas were more than eager to share. We discussed said tour, working with producer Topon Das (he of FUCK THE FACTS fame), and most importantly, their winning the 2014 Wacken  Metal Battle!! In our News, Views, and Tunes, we go over some upcoming releases and get salty over ARCH ENEMY. Musically we crank the latest Mutank and Annihilator, the new DYING FETUS, CANNABIS CORPSE, FORSAKEN RITE, and introduce Brazil's NEKROKULT in our Indie Spotlight. So what's in a name? You've started a band. You got all your ducks in a row and now all you need is a kick ass name. Your monicker is the first and main representation of your band. So you better make it a good one. But sometimes it seems this basic piece of advice is hardly applied. When we dive deeper into the Metal world, we start to find  some ridiculous names that makes us go "WTF! Who ever thought that was a good name?" Really now - NUCLEAR VOMIT? DEATHFIST? WE BUTTER THE BREAD WITH BUTTER??!! *sigh*. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we go over Gene Simmons' attempt to trademark "The Horns" and crank some (good bands with bad names) YOUR KID'S ON FIRE, MAHOGANY HAND GRENADE and GOATPENIS. Because we just don't have enough goat penis in our lives. This week's Creature Feature is an example of one of heavy music's great joys. Quebec City's hardcore crossover thrashers GET THE SHOT came through town in a supporting role. We pride ourselves on having a tight grip on the extreme music scene, but we have to admit that GTS totally escaped our notice. When we saw this band on the bill, we did our homework and... Wow! GTS' awesome brand of hardcore/metal crossover blew us away. After only one song, we knew we had to check 'em out and sit down with vocalist J-P. He tells us how they developed their sound, the dis and dat of the new album, and we discover that he's a philosophy professor! In our News, Views and Tunes, we go over various musical life lessons and the metal perspective of the Kathy Griffin saga. Musically, we crank the new GTS, DESTRUCTION, REVENGE, DEAD RANCH, and introduce Winnipeg metallers FIVE HUNDRED POUND FURNACE in our Indie Spotlight! Horns Up!! This story is an old one told many, many times on this show. Band comes through town. Band kicks big ass. Band appears on kick ass radio show. Prosthetic Records recording artists PSYCROPTIC are terrorizing the nation with a fistful of other cool, brutal metal bands. Their stop in our neck of the woods gave us a perfect opportunity to speak with vox Jason Peppiatt (Pep to his buddies). Pep gave us the 411 on their latest s/t record, the killer scene down under, and exactly what a "psycroptic" is. An old story that never gets old. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we discuss the massive spike in Chris Cornell's music and the happenings in the INCANTATION camp. Musically, we crank some Psycroptic, new FULL OF HELL, WITCH VOMIT, NOCTURNAL GRAVES, IMPIOUS BAPTISM and introduce Holland's ONEGODLESS in our Indie Spotlight. Horns Up!! John Joseph literally wrote the book on NY (worldwide, actually) hardcore. Mr. Joseph has a rich, storied career fronting the mighty CRO-MAGS and influenced a generation of Punks and Metalheads alike. But these days, the man is focusing his attention on his other band (don't call it a side project) BLOODCLOT. About to tour their new Metal Blade record Up In Arms, we got on the horn with John. He was excited to talk about the history and the current going-ons of Bloodclot, some Cro-Mags, tattoo talk, and most importantly, all his awesome charity work. He's hard to the core indeed. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we get into the ENTOMBED legal matters, MOTÖRHEAD whiskey, and cockblocking!! Musically, we crank some Bloodclot, Cro-Mags, VISCERAL DISGORGE, EXPULSION, and classic Entombed! In the Indie Spotlight, we present DEAD ASYLUM! Horns!! Tours with multiple established bands are "win" situation all around. For fans, it's more bang for the buck. For the artists, it's a chance to travel with and hang with a number of friends (or make potential ones). For programmers like RAM, it's an opportunity to present as much content to our listeners as possible. The recent SABATON stop has now given us our second Creature Feature in a row. Nuclear Blast recording artist BATTLE BEAST is our guest this week! Usual band spokesperson Noora Louhimo was resting her voice so it afforded us the opportunity to sit down with axeman Joona Bjorkroth. We discussed everything about "The Beast" including that all important third album Bringer Of Pain and their spot in the Metal world. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we discuss Babymetal and address the Chris Cornell elephant in the living room. Musically, we crank some Battle Beast and new tunes from OCEANO, INTEGRITY, WORMWITCH, and the mighty METAL CHURCH! Horns!! Symphonic metallers LEAVES' EYES could very much be considered Metal's answer to Beauty And The Beast. Alexander Krull played a major role in the early 90s during the Roadrunner-led era of death metal, while he was fronting the legendary ATROCITY. In an attempt to expand their musical horizons, the thrashers morphed into the very different Leaves' Eyes while keeping their much heavier alter ego active. Now armed with a new kickass EP and new(ish) vocalist in the operatic Elina Siirala, Mr Krull and Co have taken the show on the road. We caught up with the dynamic duo to discuss the current happenings in the Eyes camp, Miss Siirala's background, and some Atrocity. In our News, Views and Tunes, we go over some new and upcoming releases, talk some slut vomit, and say Happy Bday to the immortal Chuck Shuldiner. Musically we crank the new Leaves' Eyes, classic Atrocity, classic POSSESSED, AVULSED, VOMIT REMNANTS, UNGRAVED APPARITION, and THEATRE OF TRAGEDY. Horns Up!! "It's 4/20, Dude!" (In our worst/best Jeff Spicoli). On April 20th, we couldn't think of a band we'd rather see in our hometown than the mighty WEEDEATER. The North Carolina metaller's stoner/doom stylings is the perfect soundtrack to celebrate "The Devil's Lettuce" in 2017. We dragged bass/vox Dixie Dave Collins away from the merch booth long enough to share some thoughts. We discuss the latest record Goliathan, their controversial monicker, and their fish-out-of-water story with Season of Mist. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we talk RAM on public transit, trade Metal festival war stories, and drinking D.R.I.'s beer!! Also, Aaron calls in from the Carolina Rebellion festival! Musically we crank the latest Weedeater, new GRUESOME, INTERNAL BLEEDING, CONNOISSEUR, and some classic EXODUS. Hours!!
