Radioactive Metal

The Xmas season crept right up on us this year. In the past, we've made sure to break out all the jingle bells and whistles in honour of the Hellidays. We may have somewhat missed getting onboard Santa's sleigh, but we did make sure to give our Beautiful MFers a special Christmas gift. Amazingly enough, we've never had Canuck death metal legends CRYPTOPSY on the show before. So when the band recently crossed the country and hit our town, we finally cornered vox Matt McGachy. The guy's been behind the mic for a decade now but is still considered "the new guy", but during this short chat we knew who was running the show. We spoke of Cryptopsy's staunch independence and surviving the "Unspoken King" shitstorm. Lord Worm left some big shoes to fill but McGachy made them fit. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we exchange some awesome black/death metal related gifts and crank some Cryptopsy, IMPETIGO, and ALICE COOPER. Merry F'n Christmas! Horns! What hath GWAR wrought! By the time this pounds your eager eardrums, the Blood Of Gods tour should be wrapping up. The travelling carnival of chaos that is a live Gwar show is always a treat in itself. This time 'round, we got the amazing added bonus of Tank Crimes Records metal meisters GHOUL on the bill. What followed was a most interesting interview experience as we sat with the band, masks and all!! Digestor and Dissector both gave their unique perspectives on all things Ghoul. Busy doing his own part within the Gwar spectacle is underground bassist extraordinaire Ross Sewage (EXHUMED, IMPALED, and others). Mr. Sewage is currently riding high off the success of Exhumed's latest offering "Death Revenge". But the man has so much more to offer. We spoke of the origins of his monicker, his past participation with WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM, and his mom's appearance in Decibel Magazine (!). In our News, Views, and Tunes, we pay tribute to our fallen comrades and crank some Ghoul, Impaled, and old school HOLY TERROR, all while enjoying some Lemmys and an awesome cup of Trvekvltcoffee.com!! We've said it many times, metal and pro wrestling belong together like peanut butter and chocolate, like Macho Man and Miss Elizabeth, like Kerry King and Tom Araya... Many metalheads are pro wrestling fans and many wrestlers are metal fans. Our guest is a prime (evil) example. She's the inaugural and current SHINE Nova Champion. She's Hell's Favorite Harlot, she's The Priscilla Kelly. We go over her training, her quick rise in the business, and her unconventional and unsettling tactics in the ring. We then dive into her love of heavy metal: how she discovered it, her favorite bands, her first metal concert, and what she did the night before we interviewed her. At the top of the episode, we discuss (metal) coffee, the Master of Puppets demos, meeting Brody King of GOD'S HATE and... Bob Ross?! This one is all over the place! Horns up!! Old school MORBID ANGEL fans rejoice! The Florida legends' last experimental album left a sour taste in the mouths of diehards the world over. Regardless of your personal feelings of said record, rest assured that it's a new day in the Morbid camp. The new album "Kingdoms Disdained" is a return to former glory. It's no small coincidence that Morbid's return to greatness marks the return of bass/vocalist Steve Tucker. We sat down with the man on the verge of the record hitting the stands. We discussed the record, his return to the fold, his reaction to the controversial "Illud Divinum Insanus" album, and fatherhood. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we're loving the new "Master of Puppets" boxset and piss it up with CRYPTOPSY. Horns!! Decibel Magazine recently released their Top 40 albums of 2017 on their website. What a pleasant surprise to find that, not one, but both of our Creature Features made the grade! First up, (electronic) grinders FULL OF HELL recently came through town and we caught up with vocalist Dylan Walker. We got his thoughts on the brilliant "Trumpeting Ecstasy" album (#8), their straight edge/vegan lifestyles, and their somewhat offbeat collaborations. Canadian black/death metallers WORMWITCH put out a killer debut full length with "Strike Mortal Soil" (#34). We sat down with bassist/vocalist Robin Harris and later joined by Colby Hink (axe). We discuss their Prosthetic Records debut and playing before Suffocation. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we pay tribute to Malcolm Young and Facebook takes a personal interest in our safety. Extreme metallers CATTLE DECAPITATION have been a mainstay on Metal Blade Records since 2002!  All these years, these San Diego veterans have been raising eyebrows throughout the underground. They elicit both positive and negative reactions for their (arguably) controversial artwork and social beliefs. Still on the road supporting their "Anthropocene Extinction" record, we caught up with axeman Josh Elmore. We discuss said awesome record, their unique monicker, and their brutal... no, fucking brutal... video for "Forced Gender Reassignment"! In our News, Views, and Tunes, we announce the 2018 Manitoba Metalfest and crank some Cat Decap, AGGRESSION (Can), and NE OBLIVISCARIS! Horns!! NY death metal legends SUFFOCATION are both an unstoppable force and immovable object. Their first demo recordings hit the underground in 1990 and now almost 30 years later, they're showing no signs of letting up. They're also showing no signs of giving up their dominant spot in the hearts and minds of fans the world over. Of course, Suffocation also have an open invitation to return to the RAM hot seat. You're not going to find a more friendly or hospitable subject than axeman Terrance Hobbs. We discuss the brilliant new "...Of The Dark Light" album, the band's current (Nuclear Blast) and former (Roadrunner) homes, and the idea of re-recording old "hits". Oh, and we had a run-in from the Suffo' Young Bucks Charlie Errigo (axe) and Eric Morotti (skins). In our News, Views, and Tunes, we talk war wounds in the pit and getting drenched at Gwar! Musically, we crank the new Suffo, US BASTARDS, and some classic ABATTOIR! Horns!! It's a new day for the RAM camp! This special episode marks our big de-butt on The Shining Wizards Network. We're basically taking over the spot vacated by our friends at the Neckbreaker Podcast. The cool dudes behind the awesome show are also the cool dudes from the awesome thrash band DRIVE-BY BUKKAKE. There's a shit ton of fun going on with these guys, so it's an appropriate time to finally get DBB mainman Brian Thompson on the horn. We discussed the unique release of their new Crucial Loads record, as well as the origins of their awesome monicker (best name ever!) and the "passing of the torch" on the new Network! In our News, Views, and Tunes, we have our own discussion on bukkake!! We also introduce ourselves to our new listeners and discuss "emo sludge"??? Musically, we crank some DBB and some new CANNIBAL CORPSE and ALL PIGS MUST DIE! Horns!! Sometimes, relationship breakups aren't such a bad thing. With musical acts, member changes happen all the time. Sometimes the results are disastrous and sometimes it works out for all parties. But in the case of axe master Dallas Toler-Wade everyone wins! When Mr. Toler-Wade parted with the mighty NILE, we got the awesome NARCOTIC WASTELAND out of the deal. He's currently crossing the country on tour but we couldn't wait for him to hit our town, so we got him on the horn. We discussed their second album, his metal heroes, the challenges of being a new band on a headlining tour, and much more . In our News, Views, and Tunes, we yack about partying with  SUFFOCATION and pay tribute to the immortal Martin Ain! Horns!! Greeting Boils and Ghouls! It's Halloween! RAM is embracing the spirit of the season with our Creature Features. King Fowley has been the mastermind behind the legendary death metal outfit DECEASED for literally decades. His love of all things that go bump in the night makes The King a perfect Halloween guest. He shares with us some ghastly tales of Deceased's upcoming record and his relationship with Hells Headbangers Records. Mr. Fowley also has his own take on what death metal is and updates us on his other project OCTOBER 31. Great Goblins! In our News, Views, and Tunes, we address the Twiggy Ramirez rape allegation and show our solidarity with the #MeToo Facebook campaign.
