Veteran NY thrashers DEMOLITION HAMMER played an important role in the history of the extreme metal underground. DH made their debut with their classic "Tortured Existence" album on the very young and fledging Century Media Records at the time. This album, along with a handful of other key releases, helped build the foundation for the CM that we all know and love. The band's tenure would be short lived, releasing only two more records. The last couple of years have seen DH on the comeback trail, including a stop at The Manitoba Metalfest. Amongst the backstage chaos, we spoke with original members Steve Reynolds (bass/box) and axemen James Reilly and Derek Sykes. We got into the inspiration for the comeback and went into the illustrious past and active future. We see a pattern here. It was this time last year that we ran our first (!) ARMORED SAINT interview, a real cool chat with Joey Vera. Now this year, The Saint march into summer with a pretty cool gameplan. Throughout July and August, the band will hit the road playing the "Symbol Of Salvation" record in its entirety. The band's extensive discography does have some bigger, more well known albums. But "Symbol" holds a special place for The Saint and their diehards. Progressive NY death metallers UNCURED are a unique story. Generally our Creature Feature segments are reserved for established veterans on reputable labels with larger followings. Uncured though are unsigned and basically doing it D.I.Y. One just would never know it. With their extensive touring and promotion, they appear to be the blueprint of a big label's promotions.  Three quarters of the line up are barely into their 20s but accented by veteran DIECAST bassist Jon Kita! So when Uncured came through town recently supporting the mighty SOULFLY we had to get the 411. Obviously, with an outfit like Season Of Mist recording artists PHILIP H. ANSELMO and THE ILLEGALS, the groups namesake and frontman will be the one garnering the most press attention. But each group can have 3, 4, 5 other members and each have their own unique story to tell. With P.H.A. and The Illegals, axeman Stephen Taylor is such a member. Veteran metallers will remember NAILBOMB. They were a short lived, blistering project of then SEPULTURA/current SOULFLY mainman Max Cavalera and FUDGE TUNNEL's Alex Newport. This diabolical duo unleashed their killer debut "Point Blank" in '94. In 2018, Mr. Cavalera seems to be bitten by the 'Bomb bug again and Nailbomb is back! In 2017, Radioactive Metal was fortunate enough to interview a Who's Who in the extreme Metal Underground. Hardcore rockers HARM'S WAY are making huge strides forward in their career. Predominantly a hardcore band, they have been top tier talent in that scene. We've been following the band from the get-go and had them on the show while they were promoting their last record. It was a pleasant surprise to this old school metaller to see HW sign-on with Metal Blade Records.
