Episode 472: Dial RAM for Murder

There’s a lot going on in THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER camp right now. Their new kick ass record Nightbringers is just around the corner, not to mention headlining a star studded tour across the nation. We’ve had The Black Dahlia Murder (TBDM to its friends) vocalist Trevor Strnad on the show just last year, but with them about to ascend to the top of the extreme metal mountain again, we had to get him on the line one more time. He gives us the 411 on the new album, his vocal style, TBDM artwork, and the role Facebook plays with fan interaction. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we give life lessons on hitting the bargain bins and record store etiquette. Musically, we crank some young and old TBDM and Canuck death/doomsters OCCVLT HAND! Horns Up!!

Episode 469: Tim’s For Us Kids – Part 1

Generally when covering a veteran, or “classic” hard rock/heavy metal band, the frontman ends up monopolizing the majority of the attention. But there could also be up to five other guys in that same band, with five different stories to tell. New York hardcore vet Tim McMurtrie is probably most known for slinging the axe in the early days of M.O.D. He was on the seminal USA For MOD record,  which cemented his place in hard music history. These days Mr. McMurtrie remains a key member in the scene. His new(ish) band FULL SCALE RIOT is making a splash and he recently launched his Tripsquad Records label. All this stuff he was stoked to chat  about in Part One of a massive Creature Feature. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we do a little festival talk and some new vs. classic VENOM banter. Musically, we crank some FSR, DARKEST HOUR, and the new PALLBEARER! Horns!

Episode 468: Unspeakable Act

Canadian crossover thrashers SOLANUM have returned. When last we spoke to the guys, they had just put out a killer split EP and were poised to take it out on the road. Since then, they’ve stepped up their game with a cool new record now available on Unspeakable Acts Records. So it’s an opportune time to catch up and hang with them at their jam space. The Winnipeg warriors were eager to share lots of stuff about the new EP, their spot on Unspeakable, and the impact their hometown is having. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we crank the new record, the new INCANTATION and WARBEAST, and introduce Colorado’s CRAFTEON in our Indie Spotlight. Horns up!!

New schoolers [sic], let’s see those horns as we feature Matt Olivo, guitarist behind the great new project EXPULSION! Mr. Olivo has teamed up with Matt Harvey (Exhumed, Gruesome) to form Metal’s new dynamic duo. Their debut EP Nightmare Future has given just that to mainstream society but pleasant dreams for modern day Metalheads. We get in depth with the new project and lots of Repulsion talk. Musically, we crank both outfits plus THE END and the awesome new RIVER BLACK! Horns!
