Episode 554: Origin Story - interview with Origin
Friday May 03, 2019
Friday May 03, 2019
The irony isn't lost on us. The latest album from extreme metallers Origin is a rather unique release. Before the band started tearing it up in the underground they had their humble beginnings. Now years later, Agonia Records is re - presenting those days in the form of "Abio-genesis - Coming Into Existence". Origin's musical origin. Although those days certainly belonged to axeman Paul Ryan, we had the opportunity to get vokillist Jason Keyser's take on the sitch. In town headlining night one of The Manitoba Metalfest, we caught up with Mr. Keyser. We discussed to the new record, his time in Skinless, and his degree in anthropology. Welcome back , Jas. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we get into Ozzy's mishap and trade stories on the live front. Musically, we crank the new Origin plus cool tunes from Onslaught, All Hell, Protector, Saint Vicious, some classic Skinless, and introduce Canadian metallers Tessitura in the "Indie Spotlight". Horns!!

Episode 553: Fleshsign Is Nigh - interview with Fleshgod Apocalypse
Friday Apr 26, 2019
Friday Apr 26, 2019
Veteran Italian symphonic extreme metallers Fleshgod Apocalypse have established themselves an artististic reputation for both their amazing discography and awesome live show. With their latest Nuclear Blast opus "Veleno" about to drop, we caught up with lead vox/axeman Francesco Paoli when Fleshgod (to their friends) tore thru town supporting the immortal Hypocrisy. Mr. Paoli was quick to discuss not only the new record but all things that go into making FGA what its is today. In our "News, Views, and Tunes" we discuss a Vinnie-less Hell Yeah and get into some NHL playoff hockey talk, eh. Musically, we crank some new tunes from Fleshgod, Abnormality, Lord Gore, Dead To A Dying World, and introduce Canadian deathsters Anomalism in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns!!

Episode 552: Original Roth - interview with Uli Jon Roth
Friday Apr 19, 2019
Friday Apr 19, 2019
The legendary Uli Jon Roth is a musician's musician. An artist's artist. Probably most noted for his work with the mighty Scorpions in the 70s, Mr. Roth has a vast discography spanning five (!) decades. In honour of this, Mr. Roth is currently on his "Triple Anniversary" tour commemorating three key moments in his storied career. It was an absolute honour that Mr. Roth gave us a moment of his time. So sit up straight, shut your mouth, and open your ears as we discuss his legendary status, this awesome tour, and his current relationship with the Scorps. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we celebrate Record Store Day, "The Hoff" going Metal (!!), and the creepy Wayne Static mask issue. Musically, we crank some Uli, the new Allegaeon and Hand Of God, Night Demon, Frightmare, Hammr, and Sick Fix. Horns!!

Episode 551: Smooch - Band Spotlight feat. KISS!
Friday Apr 12, 2019
Friday Apr 12, 2019
You want the best! You got the best! Our longtime listeners will remember our "Band Spotlight" episodes. We chose a veteran outfit with an extensive back catalogue and shared our faves in key categories important to Metallers. To kick this rebooted series off we tapped the legendary KISS! Gene and the boyz are in the middle of another "farewell" tour for which we were front and centre. So all things considered, the timing of this episode is perfect. So we cracked the beer, mixed the Lemmys, and dove into all things KISS. A raw, stripped down conversation not to be missed by KISSers and music fans alike. Horns!

Episode 550: Olympus House Band - interview with Hey Zeus
Friday Apr 05, 2019
Friday Apr 05, 2019
Around the RAM offices we're still strong supporters of underground record labels. Modern technology has decimated the industry but they still play a huge role in the careers of your fave artists. While some of the bigger labels get the lion's share of fans attention and finances, there's a strong contingency of smaller labels plying their trade. Smaller only in size and stature, not creativity or spirit. This week we want give the Horns to those labels flogging to out in the underground basement. A good place to start is with Argonauta Records recording artist Hey Zeus. These Boston stoner rockers are a prime example of indieriffic rock n roll. We caught up with the band as they were about to hit the stage in their hometown. To add fuel to the fire we spin a stack of like minded wax including Grave Violator, Hellripper, Bewitcher, Black Mass, Heretical Sect, Asthma Castle, Black Mass, Wilt, and Season Of Mist's KEN Mode. As well we trade live stories and cast our vote to have Ozzy knighted(!). Horns!!

Episode 549: Tombmendous - interview with Tomb Mold
Friday Mar 29, 2019
Friday Mar 29, 2019
Canadian death metallers Tomb Mold were the Cinderella story of the extreme metal underground in 2018. Seemingly out of nowhere (emphasis on "seemingly"), TM captured the hearts and minds of fans and critics alike with the brilliant 20 Buck Spin debut "Manor of Infinite Forms". The band recently crossed their native land giving us an opportunity to speak with axeman Derrick Vella. We discuss said record and the overwhelming attention the band received. As well we chat some Canadian metal legends and, of course, some hockey talk. Musically, we crank some TM, Rotting Christ, Noisem, Torture Rack, Abhorrent, Cannabis Corpse, and we introduce Montreal metallers Blackguard in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns!!

Holy Mother of Metal!! We got ourselves a jammed packed episode this week. Consider this a Double Feature "Creature Feature" as we present not one but two kick ass interviews. First up is the return of Misery Index axeman/voice Mark Kloeppel. With the new album "Rituals Of Power" still fresh on the racks, we got Mr. Kloeppel on the horn. We go deep into the new Seasons Of Mist album and he catches us up the band's side projects. As well, "aggressive progressive" metallers Moon Tooth are making major waves themselves. With good old fashioned rock'n'roll elbow grease, MT have carved out quite a following. So it was a good time to sit down with vox John Carbone and get the 411 (plus a surprise cool cameo!). In our "News, Views, and Tunes" we congratulate the mighty VoiVod in their Juno win, discuss the (non) value of Joe Average's record collection, and pay tribute to Thrasher editor Jake Phelps. Musically, we crank the latest from our guests plus new stuff from Wormwitch and Vile Creature, ACXDC, Psychroptic, and the legendary Assuck! Double Horns!!

Episode 547: She Built This City - interview with ex Kittie Jennifer Arroyo
Friday Mar 15, 2019
Friday Mar 15, 2019
Love 'em or hate 'em, Canadian metallers Kittie have their spot in Metal history firmly secured. The ferocious felines have survived personal tragedies and professional adversities. They've amassed an amazing discography and have a story worth a bio pic of their own. Currently this story will culminate with a cool DVD "Live At London Music Hall". This show served as a reunion for all available Kittie members, past and present. A big part of this project is former bassist Jennifer Arroyo. We are totally stoked to talk with her as she speaks of her involvement with the project, recalls getting tapped for Kittie, and shares what she's doing these days. She also dispels the "starving artist" cliche'. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we trade stories from the live front and we respond to neo Nazi (!!) allegations from the Calgary police. Musically we crank Miss. Arroyo's Jenn City, Alters oF Grief, Quiet Riot, Squalus, Micawber, Los Huaycos and introduce Florida's Crypteria in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns!!

Veteran metaller Matt Harvey is nothing if not diverse. We've had Mr. Harvey on the show many times over the years, regaling us with everything to do with his numerous bands Exhumed, Gruesome, Expulsion a.o. Sonically, all these projects differed from one another. But his latest outfit really falls off the creative beaten path. Pounder is a more traditional, NWOBHM influenced sounding band. Their debut full lengther recently dropped courtesy of the fine folks at Hell's Headbangers. Once again we got Matt on the horn. He gave us the why and wherefores of the new record, most notably his hooking up with Carcass axeman Tom Draper. As well, full Horns to Gruesome drummer Gus Rios for stepping up when needed! In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we share our recent experience on the live front and all the goings on at Trve Kvlt Coffee! Musically, we crank the Pounder album, some Gruesome, Expulsion, Midnight, Wolfblood, Terminal Nation and introduce French crust punkers Vegan Fox in our "Indie Spotlight!" Horns!!
