The mid-to-late 2000s saw the emergence of a new wave of underground thrash. A new fraternity of young upstarts that took a direct influence from the classic 80s thrash masters. Think a gaggle of TESTAMENT/EXODUS offspring ready to take on the world. Leading the charge are LA thrashers WARBRINGER. The consummate road warriors, these warmongers have graced our stages many times, but only now have we been able to finagle a moment of vocalist John Kevill‘s time. We have a thought provoking chat dealing with their new record Woe To The Vanquished, their new Napalm Records home, and the insight into their lyrics. We speak of the band’s youth but Mr. Kevill has a wisdom beyond his years. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we go over the Metal hopefuls in this year’s Hall Of Fame. Musically we crank the new Warbringer, the new HAEMORRHAGE, MONSTROSITY, and DARKEST HOUR! Horns!
Everyday here at RAM is an adventure. In our valiant attempts to bring a kick ass Creature Feature each week, we find ourselves jumping through some serious hoops. The legendary DARK TRANQUILITY made their way through town recently and we were looking forward to speaking with vox Mikael Stanne. But trying to nail the man down for a few minutes proved taxing. When we did we found ourselves talking, it was in a not so tranquil environment. But a negative turned into a positive as the atmosphere made our chat a unique experience. We spoke of their latest effort Atoma, their vast catalogue, and headlining vs. supporting. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we go deep into the idea of how relevant to Metal the immortal Hugh Hefner was. Musically, we crank the new DT, the new ARCHSPIRE, and some DEBACHERY! Horns!!
There’s a lot going on in THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER camp right now. Their new kick ass record Nightbringers is just around the corner, not to mention headlining a star studded tour across the nation. We’ve had The Black Dahlia Murder (TBDM to its friends) vocalist Trevor Strnad on the show just last year, but with them about to ascend to the top of the extreme metal mountain again, we had to get him on the line one more time. He gives us the 411 on the new album, his vocal style, TBDM artwork, and the role Facebook plays with fan interaction. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we give life lessons on hitting the bargain bins and record store etiquette. Musically, we crank some young and old TBDM and Canuck death/doomsters OCCVLT HAND! Horns Up!!
In 2014, the Metal World lost of one of the all time greats in Oderus Urungus of the mighty GWAR. There’s no way Mr. Urungus would want the blood to stop there, but those are some pretty big shoes to fill. Fortunately, “The Berzerker” Blothar was up for the challenge. With a kick ass new record and tour ready to rock, we caught up with the man himself. We got into the blood n’ guts of the new album, his origins, and the early days of Gwar. But most importantly, we chat about the virtues of Canadian strippers!! So pay attention you slimy pieces of human filth!! In our News, Views, and Tunes, we chat about getting drenched at a Gwar show, we crank the new record and some VALLENFYRE and HELLISH GRAVE. Then we introduce Peoria black n’ rollers ANGELUST in out Indie Spotlight! Horns!
Welcome to Part Deux of our massive interview with all around hardcore good guy Tim McMurtrie. Last episode, Mr. McMurtrie let us in on all the going-ons with his musical career but he’s actually better known for his contribution to the early days of crossover thrashers M.O.D.. This time he shares with us the ups and downs of playing an integral role for this legendary outfit. His spot in hard rock history will be forever marked by the “U.S.A. For M.O.D.” album, but there’s no joy in Mudville today as he vents about his strained relationship with his ex-bandmate Billy Milano. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we call out some local posers and crank some more FULL SCALE RIOT and some new good stuff from DIAMOND HEAD and RITUALIZATION. Horns up!
