Episode 410: Unentombed

In doing an Internet radio show, we have to deal with a lot of red tape and industry mumbo jumbo. So imagine the trials and tribulations a career outfit like Swedish legends ENTOMBED must endure just to ply their craft. When the band split in two factions a few years back, original vocalist LG Petrov wasn’t about to start from scratch. Thus ENTOMBED AD was born. Talking to Mr. Petrov was another bucket list moment. Backing him up is a trio of young guns doing more than justice to the Entombed brand. So we were thrilled to also speak with drummer Olle Dahlstedt and bassist Victor Brandt. Together they discuss the Dawn Dead record, clear up the AD issue, and even do a little comix talk. Joining us for this special episode is Aaron from the Signal To Noise and Iron City Rocks radio shows. Over some Trooper beers and Lemmys, we do a whole bunch of bullshitting about guitar gear and the Swedish death metal sound. All of it done to the cool sounds of Entombed AD, Entombed, WEEKEND NACHOS, NECROT, and the original SLAUGHTER. Horns!!

Episode 409: French Assault

A double dose of Le Métal Francophone  courtesy of two continents. France’s tech deathsters GOROD is a band we should have had a grip on awhile ago, considering they make Listenable and Unique Leader Records their home. But now armed with a new(ish) record,  the band is terrorizing North America so we took the time to catch up with bassist Benoit Claus. In a quick chat, we discuss said record and what exactly is a “gorod”. Then we continue our French Assault (thank you VENOM) in our Indie Spotlight. Montreal party time thrashers REANIMATOR recently crossed the country as well. Vox Patrick Martin was stoked to give us the 411 on his DIY outfit. Good times indeed. In our News, Views and Tunes, we discuss our own Garage Days, the Rotting Fetus and (God help us) Sharknado 4!!! Musically, we crank the latest Gorod  as well as the new records from VICTIMS, GRUESOME, and AMON AMARTH. Horns Up!!

Episode 408: Terrorific

Mr. Peter Sandoval is a legendary figure in the extreme metal community. Bashing the skins as an original member of the mighty TERRORIZER, their World Downfall debut is one of the most influential albums of all time . It literally coined the term grindcore. Then his exploits with MORBID ANGEL are the stuff of metal legend. Recently, this latest incarnation of Terrorizer graced our presence headlining the Manitoba Metalfest where Mr. Sandoval gave us a moment of his time. Having undergone some radical spiritual and philosophical changes over the past few years, it made our chat an interesting experience. We discussed said World Downfall record, as well as Terrorizer, the band and concept, in 2016. And of course he shared some of his thoughts on his late, great bandmate Jesse Pintado (NAPALM DEATH). In our News, Views and Tunes, we discuss partying backstage, more concert etiquette, and we pay our respects to “Nick”. Oh and we say “Dying Fetus” a lot. Finally we crank some classic Terrorizer, ROTTEN SOUND, and some LORD DYING! Whew! Horns!!

Episode 407: Unhallowed Ground

Another bucket list moment! One would think getting the mighty BLACK DAHLIA MURDER on a metal radio show wouldn’t prove that difficult. Anyone following TBDM for more than two minutes knows they’re down to earth, approachable dudes. But for one reason or another, we were always unable to nail these guys down long enough for a chat. Vox Trevor Strnad said “No prob, guys” and gave us the lowdown while in town doing the entire Unhallowed album. We discussed the early days of the band, the current state of the industry, and short time he left the band. Unlike the band’s namesake, we got to the bottom of these Murders. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we exchange war stories on the live front, split hoodies, and winning Metal Alliance ducats. Finally, we introduce Brit bashers LIVING MONSTROSITY in our Indie Spotlight. Horns!!
