Episode 377: Devastation Of The Radio

Unique Leader Records continues to live up to it’s namesake. Late last year, we showcased the label when two of their legendary artists made their way through Winnipeg. This time around, we want to focus our attention on a couple of bands taking UL into the future. First off, we catch up with tech-deathsters ALTERBEAST. Vocalist Monty Barnard gives us the 411 on the whys and wherefores of the band and the industry itself. Finally an up-comer that speaks like a true veteran. Joining them on the Devastation Of The Nation tour are their Swedish counterparts SOREPTION. We sat down with 3/4 of the band and discussed their UL debut, Sweden vs. North America, and discover our previous connection. It’s definitely a good kind of devastation. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we pay a debt with disco (!) and crank some HAMMERCULT, HARLOTT, BLACK BREATH, and THE TRACEELORDS. Horns Up!!

Episode 376: A Gruesome View

We love old-school metal but we also love to hear crushing new tunes. So when a band like GRUESOME combines both old with new, we can’t raise our horns high enough! The group stopped in Orlando on their first ever mini tour, so we had to talk to them and catch the show. We sat down with the whole band and discussed their origin, the Schuldiner family, the debut album, Ed Repka artwork, and what’s in the band’s immediate future. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we discuss some Sin City and get on our soapbox about the ugliness of prejudice. Musically, we crank some related Metal in EXHUMED, DERKETA and introduce Norway’s DEFECT DESIGNER. Horns Up, BMFs!!!

Episode 375: Fan Friendly Show

The Horror Pain Gore Death Productions label is fast becoming a major player within the extreme metal underground. Even in 2015, here at the RAM offices, being signed to a label like HPDG kind of pushes an indie band up to that next level as an established artist. So when our hometown buddies in crossover bashers SOLANUM released their split record Passage To Lunacy, we knew they deserved a spot in our Creature Feature segment. Hanging with the band after their blistering set at the 2015 SkateJam, we discussed the whys and wherefores in the Solaum camp including their dealings with HPGD and the challenges of being in an underground  extreme music band. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we discuss our experiences at the 80s In The Park festival and DIY band merch. Musically, we crank some COFFINS, MASTER, INTEGRITY, PIG DESTROYER, and introduce Central Florida’s A FEASTING BEAST in our Indie Spotlight. Horns Up!!

Episode 374: Evil Dumb… Nice Guys

RAM prides itself in getting behind the little guy. Since episode #1, our Indie Spotlight has been a staple on the show. Sometimes when a band really catches our attention, we like to go the extra mile and get the scoop from the artist themselves. The recent Evil Dumb Tour features two such outfits. Comedic metallers PSYCHOSTICK (or psy – caustic) and Canuck rockers WOLFBORNE have sweet F.A. in commmon except their willingness to rock and their ability to impress. Psychostick bassist/vox Matty J. Moose explains their love of comedy and rock n’ roll which explains their unique sound. Wolfborne’s Lanning Kann explains how far they’ve deservingly come in such little time and shares some road debauchery as well. The future is now!! In our News, Views, and Tunes, we discuss hurricane parties and crank our interview subjects with some BROKEN HOPE and some live SLAUGHTER too! Horns!!
