Episode 355: Exhuming Ronnie

The irresistible force meets the immovable object!! OK, maybe that’s a little sensationalistic but nobody can blame us for getting excited. Both death meisters EXHUMED and crossover thrashers IRON REAGAN are faves here in the RAM offices. So when they announced they were doing a split record together, we got quite excited. When they came through town together recently, we lost all our shit! First up Exhumed’s Matt Harvey explained said split, the re-release of Gore Metal, and our mutual love of MINOR THREAT. Not to be outdone, Iron Reagan’s Tony Foresta (also in MUNICIPAL WASTE) chimes in about signing with Relapse Records, where the band name came from, and Viking funerals. It’s always a pleasure chatting with these gentlemen. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we pay tribute to AJ Pero, rant about the SLIPKNOT sitch, and discuss upcoming festivals. Horns Up!!

Episode 354: Album Autopsy – Crowbar’s Self-Titled

One never really needs a reason to speak with a Metal Legend like CROWBAR‘s Kirk Windstein. He’s one of the true gentlemen of Metaldom and his feet are planted firmly on the ground. With our Album Autopsy series in full swing, having Mr. Windstein back on the show was a no brainer: we chose the band’s sophomore release, their self-titled album to dissect. We tested Kirk’s memory as we discussed the journey involving the creation of this classic, as well as examining each track in detail. He shared with us stories of how he writes music, working with producer Phil Anselmo, and how much of an influence Peter Steele was. In our abbreviated News, Views, and Tunes, we yack about hanging with DEICIDE‘s Glen Benton and supporting our local hardcore scene. Horns Up!!

Episode 353: French Revolution

Simple enough: French indie label Kaotoxin Records kicks ass. Radioactive Metal lives to serve kick ass Metal. So with a fresh batch of Metal hell tearing up the underground, this proved to be a good time to throw some attention their way. DEEP IN HATE impressed us with their latest platter Chronicles Of Oblivion, so we had to talk to guitarist Florian. He gave us the 411 on the DIH camp including getting booked on Hellfest, concert plans for 2015, and working on the next album. Not to be outdone, instrumetalists THE LUMBERJACK FEEDBACK joined us too, making this episode a Kaotoxin double feature. Sebastien took time out to tell us why they have 2 drummers, how they came up with their name, and to talk about their successful Indiegogo campaign. Vive La France!! In our News, Views, and Tunes, we share a new live experience and gush over the MACHINE HEAD tour. Horns Up!!

Episode 352: Indestructible Noises

Heavy Metal is a niche market. Obviously for a vast majority of bands, success will elude them despite a strong launch onto the mean streets of Metaldom. INDESTRUCTIBLE NOISE COMMAND are one such band. They debuted in the late 80s, all guns blazing, but soon fizzled out. Now in 2015 the Metal Gods have granted I.N.C. a resurrection and we’re doing our part to spread the Gospel. Pushing their brilliant new Black Hearse Serenade record we caught up with guitarist Erik Barath to discuss the new album, their love of horror movies, and their deal with Ferocious Records.  I.N.C are hardly alone in their quest. A whole legion of their contemporaries are walking the same beaten path in their combat boots. In our News, Views, and Tunes, we give some musical love to NUM SKULL, INCANTATION, WITCH CROSS, TOKYO BLADE, MORTAL SIN, and CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER. We discuss our new bizarre Japanese KISS single and decide we really don’t give a flying fuck what day new releases come out. Horns Up!!
