When it comes to traditional and NWOBHM inspired acts, Pittsburgh doesn't immediately spring to mind. But the new High Roller Records recording artists Legendry are looking to cast their own stone. "Wizard And The Tower Keep" is an ambitious project and mainman Vidar was eager to share all that went into the making of this future classic. We discussed all the ins and outs of the record. Plus the Pittsburgh metal scene and the meaning behind the "ry". Cool chat #2 is courtesy of Canadian hard rockers Saint Vicious. We've already introduced our listeners to the band. But their recent stopover in town gave us the opportunity to feature them in our "Extended Indie Spotlight". Definitely a band to watch for in '20. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", today more than ever we're living in a PC world and the heavy music world isn't immune to it. This week we discuss and swap stories about some past bands, songs, albums, etc; that would never make it to the new release rack today. Musically, we crank our guests + some Death, High Spirits, some solo Evo (Warfare) stuff, Child Bite, Negro Terror and Professor Black. Horns!!

The legendary Slayer just stepped of the stage for the last time on their farewell world tour. It is an appropeaux time to give our own send off to our version of "The Fab Four". Slayer will always remain trve to our Metal hearts so we had to do it in style. Renowned music author D.X. Ferris literally wrote the book on Tom and the Boys, not once but twice, with "Slayer 66 2/3: The Jeff And Dave Years" and "33 1/3: Reign In Blood". So we tapped Mr. Ferris to co host this special episode to share all his insights and experiences. We chronicle his working relationship with the band, The Relentless Killogy opus, and all of our own personal favourites and band moments. All making for an unforgettable episode. So press play. No mercy will be shown. Not even a divine intervention will spare you from the repentless Hell that awaits. Horns!!

Episode 584: Doom And Dudes - interviews with Year Of The Cobra and Villain
Friday Dec 06, 2019
Friday Dec 06, 2019
Pour a Lemmy and get comfy because we got another extra innings barnburner. Like last week we present two interviews that represent different subgenres of our beloved heavy music. First up is doom/stoner duo Year Of The Cobra in our "Creature Feature". We sat down with bass/vox Amy Tung Barrysmith to discuss the new record "Ashes And Dust", the sound's evolution, and the songwriting process. In our "Extended Indie Spotlight", we go from doom and gloom to 80s party dudes, Villain. We sat down with the boyz over beer and pizza and discussed being a band out of time and all that goes with it. We should be seeing big things from them in 2020. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we discuss what makes the perfect concert and go over the whole VH/billie eilish thing. Musically we crank our guests + All Out War, Lord Mantis, Womit Angel, Skullfist, and Jucifer. Whew again! Horns!

This week is an absolute barnburner of an episode. We aspire to be the best in covering all the diverse stylings that make up the heavy music underground. So we present not one, but two, cool interviews that bookend the musical spectrum. First up in our "Creature Feature", we sat down with Equal Vision pop punkers Calling All Captains. In the unique setting of our own home right before a houseshow!! Not to be outdone, our second chat features Winnipeg black metalllers Cell in our "Extended Indie Spotlight". These unsigned (for now) bangers made incredible waves on their recent North American tour becoming Metal's Best Kept Secret no more. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we dissect the circus that is the Crue/Def Lep/Poison stadium tour and give our predictions for next year's Quebec Deathfest. All this and we break up a bar fight ON THE AIR!!! Musically, we crank our guests plus new Cattle Decapitation, Morbid Angel, Piledriver, Bones, and Nunslaughter! Whew! Horns!

Episode 582: Mr. Record Man
Friday Nov 22, 2019
Friday Nov 22, 2019
No "Creature Feature" per say this week. But no shortage of cool shite to discuss. For the first time since the 80s, vinyl is going to be out selling CDs. So with more music lovers heading to the record shops it seemed like a good time to talk shop with an individual already in the trenches. Jason Churko plys his trade behind the counter at the much discussed "Into The Music" shop in Winnipeg. We discuss the ins and outs and whys and wherefores of working a record shop. A subject getting more and more relevant. As well, as Metalheads we have to endure a lot of BS from the everyday Joe and Jane Average. The "Normies" are constantly criticizing our beloved music and giving their unnecesary, and ignorant, 2 cents. So we took the time to discuss the stuff that irks and gnaws us the most. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we discuss the house show that Sky recently put on and crank some cool tune from Mortiferum, Warsenal, Sect, Frecuencia De Muerte, and some live Midnight! Horns!!

Episode 581: Beyond Metal - interview with Beyond Creation
Friday Nov 15, 2019
Friday Nov 15, 2019
Canadian tech deathsters Beyond Creation have had a stellar year. They released their sophomore Season Of Mist records (and third over all) "Algorythm" to a rabid underground. Going so far as to nab themselves a Juno nod (the Canadian equivalent of the grammies). We caught up with B.C. again during their tour stop here. Vox/axe Simon Girard was eager to give a moment of this time. As well, we welcome Sky La Vercruysee, she of Bulldog Pizza and Event Centre fame. Sky joins us to share with us her thoughts on artists that have "jumped the shark", either personally or for their careers. Eyyyyyy!! In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we trade stories from the live front and crank tunes from the latest B.C., the new Wolfbrigade, Cloak, Insvrgence, Sentient Horror, Squalus, Wehrmacht, and Mercyful Fate. Rest In Power, Timi Hansen! Horns!!

Episode 580: Clitorious - interview with Cliterati
Friday Nov 08, 2019
Friday Nov 08, 2019
Oregon hardcore bashers Cliterati are making major waves in the underground scene. Their radical left wing and feminist views may be rustling some feathers. But it's their awesome new album "Ugly Truths/Beautiful Lies" that's garnering the majority of the attention. The band was been Wowing us for awhile now so it was time to speak with vox Ami Lawless. We discussed the new record, the origins of her gimmick name and band monicker and working with Joel Grind. We made a new BFF in Lawless, for sure. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we discuss where some of our fave acts were in their careers when we were at the height of our fandom. An entertaining and surprising conversation. And for a few minutes we discover corporate radio isn't always a cultural wasteland. Musically, we crank some Cliterati, Integrity, Hellripper, Violation Wound, Chthonic Deity, and some classic stuff from Fastway, Strife and Hallow's Eve! Horns!!

This current Immolation tour has kept us hopping (and moshing). Not only did it present us with last episode's awesome interview with the legendary Immolation, but we got two more out of the deal. First up, underground darlings Blood Incantation. Believe the hype with this outfit. We had a cool chat with all four Incanters discussing the critical success of their debut, the brutal bootleg issue and the music biz itself. A chat that displayed them well beyond their years. Not to be outdone by his tour mates, Immo's Alex Bouks sat down with us. Mr. Bouks has a storied career within the underground having founded the legendary Gorephobia and spent time with Incantation. Immolation's pedigree is astounding!! In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we compile our own personal Alice Cooper tribute album. Musically, we crank B.I. and new tunes from 1349, Crypt Sermon and SunO))). As well as the aforementioned Incantation, Gorephobia and Lazz Rocket. Horns and Happy Halloween!!

Episode 578: On Fire! - interview with Immolation
Friday Oct 25, 2019
Friday Oct 25, 2019
NY death metal legends Immolation need little in the way of introduction. Their roots go back to the late 80s and were major players in the early 90s death boom. Fast forward to the present day and Immo are three decades and ten albums old. Their place in Metaldom has been solidified. The outfit's recent stopover in town gave us the opportunity to again sit down with bass/vox Ross Dolan and axeman Robert Vigna. Once again they demonstrated why they have the reps of being some of the nicer guys in Metal. We discussed the whys and wherefores of the latest record. As well, as living off the band and their views of the next generation of Death. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we continue in the spirit of Halloween and discuss Metal artists that would fit Horror movie roles. Musically, we crank new and classic Immolation, Necronomicon, Cropsy Maniac, Butcher Babies, Skeletorium, Hobbs' Angel Of Death and introduce ChiTown's Vile Cynic in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns!

Episode 577: It's Alive - interview with Cirith Ungol
Friday Oct 18, 2019
Friday Oct 18, 2019
The legendary Cirith Ungol will always have a special place in our Metal Hearts. We went full on Metal in our fandom just as CU were breaking out into the underground. As we took our first steps to the Metal selection in our local record store, the band's debut "Land Of The Dead" caught our attention. And it's stuck with us ever since. So now decades later we have the opportunity to speak with a founding Ungoller. On the eve of Cirith's new live album "I'm Alive" hitting the racks, we sat down with drummer Robert Garven. We discussed the new record, bassist Jarvis Leatherby's spot in Night Demon, and the band's place in Heavy Metal history. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we put on our concert promoters caps and create our own "Ultimate Halloween Concert'. Musically we crank new and classic Cirith, Angel Witch, Deceased, The Machinist, Destructor, Impetigo, Bitch, and 45 Grave! Horns!!
